So here I am at the Ajou University in Suwon. 1st impression… Damm JAMK is small compared to this school. The campus has huge sport fields, couple of food shops and multiple campus buildings. My dorm was located at the very back area of the campus and that was located at the top of the hill.. Yea Ajou university is build around a big hill that is about the size of Laajavuori sking center in JKL.

After getting to my dorm I meat with my roommates and we went shopping for pillows , blankets and other useful things. I ended up getting a korean style bed sheet set & pillow and some basic living stuff. After that we went to eat at a local restaurant that served chicken galbi that is a really traditional korean food. it spicy and freaking good… top tip always order it with extra cheese. After the awesome dinner it was time to get some sleep and be fresh for orientation day.

Flight to Korea & Arriving to the Incheon airport

So here I am… South Korea. After a looong flight from Helsinki to Berlin to Abu Dhabi to South Korea that took 34½ hours I finally arrived in the Incheon airport. Its been ranked as one of the best airport in the world for multiple times and I can see why. Everything is so easy when your navigating around the airport even if it is your first time there. There are information computer in almost every corner and the signs are easy to see from far and oh boy the airport is a big one.

After arriving  I went to check in to the immigration gate where everything went fast and smooth. They checked my passport took fingerprints and a photo and gave a stamp in my visa and that was it. After that I went to pick up my luggage and I have to say since I last saw it in Helsinki airport I was a little nervous if it had arrived to Korea after all the stops. After about 15 minutes from walking out from the plane I got my suitcase from the pick up place that is located right after the immigration gate.

So my next job was to find the subway to take me to Seoul Station from the airport.  There are a few entrances to the subway located near the different exits of the airport. Taking a taxi from the airport is something I don’t recommend if you wish to not spend a lot of money since the subway is so easy and fast.  AVOID the black taxi at all times.. It is way more expensive than the normal ones!

I’m going to head for a guest house for a few nights before going to Ajou University for my summer school so next stop.. Kimchee Guesthouse in Sinchon. If you ever need a good guesthouse with English service go to this website:

They have many different locations around Seoul so just pick the one that fits your needs. Good service & nice prices.
