2nd Enoll Living Lab Summer School @ Citilab Barcelona

We can learn how to innovate through living labs – the theme of the summer school.

Juha Ruuska & Piotr Krawczyk from Lutakko Living Lab are taking part in 2nd Living Lab Summer School in Barcelona. Hosted by Enoll (European Network of Living Labs), the program has included diffrent workshops about Living Lab research/methodology, smart cities, energy efficiency, job creation, wellbeing, living lab learning/innovation environments, tourism & social media.

Lutakko Living Lab is hosting a workshop “Delphi Session on LL phenomena”  from mon to thu where we try to put forward discussion about theoretical basis of Living Labs. The delphi workshop was also run the first time in ICE -Conference Aachen, Germany in June.

LLL was also attending the Enoll General Assembly and the workshop hosted by Enoll today. Enoll is preparing white paper – Enoll PPPP (public private people partnership) to address the issues in the framework of 2020 strategy. It seems that Living Labs can be powerful tool for trying to achieve many of the challenges set by 2020 strategy.

we also visited Barcelona FabLab today – very nice http://fablabbcn.org/

Lutakko Living Lab mukana tänään julkaistavassa palvelumuotoilun kirjassa

Lutakko Living Lab on ollut  mukana tuottamassa 4.5. julkaistavaa kirjaa  “Palvelumuotoilu – uusia menetelmiä käyttäjätiedon  hankintaan ja kehittämiseen”. Kirjan julkaisutilaisuus pidetään tänään Laureassa Service Innovation & Design Seminaarin yhteydessä jossa julkaisun esittelee Petri Lehto Työ- ja elinkeinoministeriöistä.

palvelumuotoilu

Otteita tiedotteesta: Palvelumuotoilu – uusia menetelmiä käyttäjätiedon hankintaan ja hyödyntämiseen esittelee uuden tavan kehittää käyttäjälähtöisiä palveluja. Se on ensimmäinen palvelumuotoilun perusteet esittelevä kirja Suomessa. Kirjassa käsitellään kolmea palvelumuotoilun kannalta keskeistä kokonaisuutta: asiakasymmärryksen luomista, palvelun konseptointia ja palvelun prototypointia. Kirjassa esitellään palvelumuotoilun prosessi ja siihen liittyvät keskeiset käsitteet. Siinä on esitelty käyttäjälähtöisen kehittämisen menetelmiä ja kirjaan on koottu runsaasti lisätiedon lähteitä aiheesta.  Eri toimialoilta koottujen yritysesimerkkien avulla havainnollistetaan palvelumuotoilua käytännössä.

Kirjan taustalla on suuri tarve palvelumuotoilun menetelmätiedolle. Kirja sopii oppikirjaksi aihetta opiskeleville sekä työkalupaketiksi palvelujen kehittämisessä ja käyttäjälähtöisessä innovaatiotoiminnassa mukana oleville palveluiden kehittäjille.

Kirja on työryhmän ideoinnin tulosta. Työryhmässä ovat olleet mukana kirjan toimittaja, professori Satu Miettinen, palvelumuotoilija Mikko Koivisto Konseptointitoimisto Yattasta, matkailun kehitysjohtaja Miikka Raulo Jyväskylä Innovationista ja projektipäällikkö Juha Ruuska Jyväskylän ammattikorkeakoulun Lutakko Living Labista. Lisäksi omaa osaamistaan ja kokemuksiaan jakavat Petteri Hertto, Kai Hämäläinen, Tuula Jäppinen, Anne Kalliomäki, Tuomo Ketola, Reijo Markku, Tuuli Mattelmäki, Markku Nurminen, Reima Rönnholm, Jussi Sorsimo, Kirsikka Vaajakallio, Kristiina Vaahtojärvi ja Hanna Vilkka.

Osallistu keskusteluun ja jaa kokemuksiasi kirjasta: http://twitter.com/palvelumuotoilu

Living Lab Coaching a Success

Living lab coaching which started today is a success, over 60 Finnish living lab operators enrolled for the 3-day coaching! That is way over expectations. The coaching is a part of national Living lab -project (http://www.neloskierre.fi). Lutakko Living Lab acts as one of the coaches.

Lutakko Living Lab / JAMK university of applied sciences elected to Enoll Council

General assembly of Enoll was held in Bruessels 28.3, and it elected also Lutakko Living Lab/Juha Ruuska to its council. This means more co-operation internationally and hopefully new development, ideas and European parnerships. Lutakko Living Lab is now an effective member of Enoll.

Afterthoughts from Barcelona

On 10th & 11th of March Ihad the chance to visit two living labs in Barcelona with some Finnish living labbers of the Neloskierre (quadruple helix of finnish universities of applied sciences) network/project. The two were citilab (http://en.citilab.eu/home) and 22@barcelona (http://www.22barcelona.com/). Also visited Esade business school (http://www.esade.edu/), which is one of the most appriciated business schools in the world.

Especially citilab concept was interesting with impressive physical premises (previously old textile factory) and various different labs. The main clues for understanding citilab is ict, knowledge society, social inclusion, living lab and constructivism.

Some active labs:

Senior lab – seniors, ict and knowledge society
Labour Lab: create a new profession
Media lab – user media production, user content
Music lab – cultural exchange and communication through music
Coffee lab – we want one!

Dissertation on Service Experience

Seeing experience as a phenomenon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phenomenology) Heikkula is trying to make sense of Service Experience and formalise it. Had a quick look, its just a fine thesis. Philosophical, Cultural and Social theory seem light years away although it tries to borrow from that tradition. Universities should change the user interface of dissertations.
