Home sweet home

I have been home for couple of weeks now. The Christmas evening, new years evening and all those parties are all behind and it’s time to continue normal life. What is normal life for me? Studying of course, but also working in the local pharmacy, friends and gym. Feelings in the airport of Malta were so mixed. Sad and happy at the same time. I was so sad to leave all those brilliant people behind. I will miss them so much in Finland and all those moments and experiences we had together. I was crying so much when we said goodbye to each other. Thank you so much that you shared this time with me. We had so much fun! Hope we will meet again soon!

When we arrived in Helsinki- Vantaa airport, Tiia’s boyfriend and my friend were there to pick us up from the airport. The moment when I started to hear Finnish and saw Finnish people speaking to each other was a chaos for me. I realized that I understand everything! 😀 I wasn’t prepared to such a huge amount of information coming from here and there when I listened people around me. I was used to that I don’t have to understand everything people are speaking in different languages. On the other hand I was so happy to be at home again. Finland is my home land and always will be. The first thing I did when I arrived to the airport; I went to a shop, buy ryebread and a Finnish coffee. Those two things I had missed the most during my exchange. And god damn them were good! Mums!

And the weather… When I stepped out from the airport I faced the reality. It was two degrees, raining and no snow. I was so disappointed at that moment. Luckily a week after that when I was staying in the north in my parents’ house the winter really came. The temperature went so down that I had to heat our house every day. 😀 The lowest temperature was -36 degrees and there was almost a meter of snow. So reaaally freezing! But I prefer a real winter with minus degrees than +2 and raining!

When I arrived to my own flat in my study city Jyväskylä, I was a bit scared of how to cope to my own life and all those things I have to do during the spring semester. I should start my thesis, work, do the courses and assignments, apply summerjob and so on. So many things to do, but I decided not to stress about it. I have had the time of my life in the autumn time in Malta. I have learnt so many new things and won all those challenges there. I have all those things I need to finish this school.

In the end, I have to say that I really recommend going abroad to study. I’m so lucky that I had an opportunity to go to Malta, meet new people, live in a different country with a different habits and culture. I learnt so many new things and saw so many places and situations I can’t face here in Finland. And I really appreciate my own country’s best sides. As they say, sometimes You have to go far to see close – now I know what that really means in general.

I finish this blog with a smile on my face. With lots of good memories and contacts all around the world.
Take care!
