Here i am, this is me

So, I have been here about a week now and it’s been kinda crazy. The travel went actually surprisingly good even tho it was my first time alone in the plane. There were no problems and I didin’t even get lost! Which was a surprise cos’ sometimes I can’t even find back to my seat when I’m travelling in the train. So it was nice to see that I can manage on my own too. But even the travel went great, it was rough. I couldn’t sleep much and still now I have so much sleep debt. The flight time was all together about 28 hours instead of 26 hours (which it was supposed to be) due the one hour delay both in Amsterdam and Hong Kong. And I had to “sleep” the preceeding night in the Helsinki airport after I came by train from Pori in the evening. But anyhow, I’m here now! And I think cos’ lack of sleep I was like a zombie while travelling I didin’t know how to be so excited, but soon as I took the first step from the plane in Bali and I felt the warm moist breeze on my face I couldn’t help myself from smiling ear to ear. That was the most amazing feeling.

World, here i come!

As I arrived, I took a taxi to the hotel I booked couple days beforehand. I didin’t actually knew which kind of area this hotel located and it turn out that in the middle of nowhere. There were actually nothing in the surrounding area. And in the pictures it looked nice and all and it was, but just from the outside. The room was dirty and I don’t even think that they had changed the sheets. So that was I bit bummer. But I only had booked it for a one night and I had absolutely no interest to find a new place that day. And for the next couple of days I booked a really nice hotel much closer to the center Seminyak.
So I was just lying on my bed and started to think “what the heck I’m going to do now?”. I was just sending text’s to all that I’m not dead and stuff and I got a message from one Finnish girl who told that she and her friend were looking a villa and a group. So we decided to meet in the evening over a supper. They were really cool guys and we decided to look for a place to live together. They had arranged a meeting with an agent for the next day who agreed to show some places. So in the next day we were on the meeting point waiting for the agent and two more Finnish girls showed up and told that they had a meeting with the same agent also. So we all went to see those villas together.
And after couple days of stress and confusing information and not-knowing-nothing-at-all-on-anything we finally found a perfect villa! It has 8 bedrooms with either twin or double bed. I decided to share my room to lower the costs and to improve my English. The girl I shared the room with is from Czech Republic and we also have here 4 German’s and one more will join us next week. The rest 5 is from Finland. So we have quite big villa family here.

Ohh dat pool!

Yesterday and today we had the orientation days in Denpasar campus. They were fairly exhausting. Most of the information they gave us was rather unnecessary, like “don’t drink and drive”. Like we didin’t know that yet. I’m not saying that there shouldn’t be any kind of advices or that in the beginning, but they could just have squeezed the most important things in one day. Oh and there were a welcoming dance and Saraswati dance (not sure what it means). I believe it was a nice thing, but not sure cos’ I couldn’t actually see anything except some random heads in time to time.

Tomorrow the actual study begins and I have to find my way to the Jimbaran campus somehow. I believe it’s better to leave at least two hours earlier even tho it will only take about 40 minutes according google maps. But the traffic here is unbelievable crazy! One good word to describe it is chaotic. There’s no rules and my first though was “Hell no! I’m not going to do that”. But I did. And it wasn’t that bad but you just have to pay a really close attention on everything. Yesterday one of our villa group member already fall down and today one more with a passenger, but they all survived only with minor injuries. I wonder whose next… Fingers crossed. I don’t know how I’m gonna manage that alone since I just have followed others who had had a map reader sitting behind them. But I’m sure I’m gonna figure it out at some point. Again, wish me luck!
