I come from Bahrain, and I was granted a study place at JAMK in 2020, but due to Covid-19 travel restrictions, I could not travel to Finland until February 2021. When I newly joined the restaurant, I was given proper training for almost two weeks in which I got to learn all the work mentioned in my contract.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I have learnt many things related to food at the workplace. Fafa\u2019s JKL specializes mainly in Mediterranean food and hence I learnt how to prepare falafels, sauces, salads, etc. My key jobs at the workplace were:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1. Taking customer orders<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. Preparing food<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. Maintaining cleanliness of the customer seating area<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The most rewarding part of my job was that I could speak to different customer groups and improve my customer service skills, also I got to learn a little bit of Finnish language.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"603\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/blogit.jamk.fi\/restonomipracticaltraining\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/636\/2021\/12\/image-8.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-140\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogit.jamk.fi\/restonomipracticaltraining\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/636\/2021\/12\/image-8.png 603w, https:\/\/blogit.jamk.fi\/restonomipracticaltraining\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/636\/2021\/12\/image-8-300x294.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 603px) 100vw, 603px\" \/><figcaption>Picture 2: Having a wonderful day at work.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Every day was a new challenge and got to learn new things. The challenging part of the job was when I had to deal with elderly people taking their orders as they sometimes did not know English language and I do not speak Finnish language, so the situation got little tricky to handle. Initially it was not easy to handle things as I have never worked in restaurant before. My training days were difficult, all the food products were new to me, how to handle the food inside the premises was another big challenge. My colleagues, who trained me, were very helpful and kind people. They guided me in every step and helped me to improve in case of any mistakes from my end. I am very much thankful to them. At Fafa\u2019s JKL, I have worked with people from different backgrounds. They were easy going people and I enjoy the working conditions here. They are friendly and helpful at all times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I am very much grateful to JAMK for giving me this opportunity to do practical training which is a part of my studies for gaining practical knowledge alongside the theoretical studies.
