Elmer Dixon, Black Panther gives a lecture at Jamk 27.10.2022 at 11:00-12:30.
Die Standing – From Revolutionary to Global Diversity. A Case Study on Integrating into Society.

Welcome to listen to Elmer Dixon, the president of Executive Diversity Services, based in Seattle, WA, USA, who has been active in human and civil rights issues since a child. He now provides training and consultations with governmental agencies, police departments, not-for-profit organizations, global corporations, and educational institutions in the areas of diversity and inclusion, multiculturalism, and cultural competency. At the core of Elmer’s message are values such as fairness, equity and equality, which are contested in many countries today.

During the Civil Rights era in the United States (1960s), Elmer was co-founder of the Seattle chapter of the Black Panther Party. This organization was key in countering the discriminatory practices of local and national service agencies. Thus the values by which Elmer has operated for many decades continue to be under assault not only in the USA but in many societies around the world.

You’re welcome to arrive to Valjakka auditorium FP05 at the Jamk main campus to get the authentic experience. The session will be on Thursday 27 Oct from 11:00 to 12:30.

If you are far from us, you can also watch the live stream from this Panopto link: https://panopto.jamk.fi/Panopto/Pages/Viewer.aspx?id=cfd6ef54-5441-4864-b271-af2a0086b3e3
