The Ritz – Carlton Langkawi, Malaysia (Practical Training 1&2)

I completed my internship in iconic hotel The Ritz – Carlton, Langkawi, Malaysia. This is an oceanfront resort which is set in a tranquil private bay and surrounded by an ancient jungle, the resort actually blends beautifully with its natural surroundings, sheltered by the trees on a beach lapped by the Andaman Sea. The concept of this particular Ritz Carlton is to connect past and modern, therefore, to support and praise tropical nature. There are 70 guestrooms, 15 suites and 29 villas; 4 restaurants; Spa; Kids Club and many other recreational outlets.

The Ritz Carlton Restaurant

The Ritz – Carlton hotels and resorts belongs to Marriott Hotel Chain and operated by Marriott association. The Ritz Carlton’s are luxury five-star hotels of Marriott with certain standards and service values. Mainly, the guests of The Ritz Carlton Langkawi are wealthy families and couples (honeymooners, anniversary) as it is perfect holiday escape destination.

My position was Operational intern and I had experience in two departments – Food and Beverage and Front Office. During my internship I have being a Resort and Restaurant Host, Loyalty assistant and Dining Ambassador. I was doing guest relations, problem solving, serving, cashiering, administrative work, sales and delivering Wow moments to the guests.

This Internship gave me chance to experience life on the island in Asia and integrate in different culture. A tip – Malaysia is a Muslim country with its special culture and traditions, so adaptation period can be hard.

In addition, I was working in a luxury hotel chain which is known World Widely, and this is a plus for my future career in hospitality industry.
