Practical Training at Musiikkituottajat – IFPI Finland ry
I did my practical training at Musiikkituottajat – IFPI Finland ry. The company is located in Helsinki, and they are an important part of the music industry in Finland. IFPI Finland is also the national group of the international non-profit organization IFPI (International Federation of the Phonographic Industry). IFPI Finland is representing 18 record companies in Finland such as Sony, Universal and Warner. The goal of the organisation is to develop the conditions in the recording industry and securing legislation to protect the industry.
Main tasks on the job were maintaining social media channels of the finnish music charts (Suomen Virallinen Lista), editing websites, assisting with the making of the finnish music charts weekly, ISRC-coding, assisting with the production of Emma Gaala 2017 (music industry award gala in Finland), marketing and planning of Record Store Day 2017, overall help with communications and assisting with everyday office tasks. The job was versatile throughout my 5 month training period and it was a great opportunity for personal learning and using my professional skills. I made many contacts in the industry and the people at IFPI Finland are very friendly and it is a great place to work at.
All in all my practical training was a great experience. I got to be a part of many exciting projects and learned a lot.
