My practical training as a Lifeguard in Galveston, TX, USA

This summer’18 I had an opportunity to work in the small city Galveston located on the Galveston Island, next to Houston in the second biggest state in the USA – Texas. I had a position of a Lifeguard in the big and popular in Texas and Kansas waterparks chain Schlitterbahn.

The time spent there was quite controversial and had its positive and negative sides. Negative aspects of my staying were caused by extreme climate and not pleasant working conditions, what made this responsible and difficult job even harder. However, as it commonly said: “What doesn’t kill us makes us stronger” trough this experience I gained a lot of valuable personal and professional skills, qualities and conclusions.

I got a deep and straight from the inside view on the management structure of the company from entertainment industry with their strengths and weaknesses, saw the example of the weak management structure and organization, became even more confident in communication in international environment, developed qualities as responsibility, attentiveness and focus, improved skills in team working, quick decision-making and problem solving.

As a result this opportunity helped me to get a bit clearer view on my personality – what and how can I do, what do I worth, where do I see myself in the future and so on.
