Practical training at Barona

I had been interested in human resource management for a while when I started looking for different practical training opportunities in the field of HR. I came across a company called Barona which caught my attention. I sent out an application and was luckily chosen to be their next HR-intern of five months.

Barona is a private employment agency founded in 1999 in Finland. Since then it has grown quite rapidly and it has also become an international company. The main thing Barona focuses on is temporary staffing service – either short fixed-term employment or long fixed-term employment. My main tasks during the internship had to do with short fixed-term employment. I got to use both Finnish and English basically on a daily basis and I practiced my problem-solving skills all the time.

My knowledge in employment administration grew a lot during my internship. Furthermore, I got to practice my recruitment skills since the very first week by going through applications, interviewing applicants and making decisions based on these. The internship taught me more than I could have ever imagined. Since the beginning felt like being part of the team and the work experience I gained during the five months is very versatile and valuable.

Doing my internship at Barona in Jyväskylä was such a great opportunity which led to me being employed to Barona after the internship. I am happy to be able to continue my journey at Barona and develop my professional side in HR!
