Not just a regular customer service job by Lotta Nuorivaara
When I started studying at JAMK that meant moving from my hometown to Jyväskylä. I have always worked on top of going to school, so it felt weird not having a job yet here in Jyväskylä. One time I was on a train scrolling down job applications and decided to apply to the customer service of a company called Kielo Office Solutions.
I started working there in January 2021. My previous job had also been in customer service, but the location was inside a mall. My new job at Kielo includes so much more than just basic customer interactions. I handle posts (letters and packages), make meeting room reservations, and take care of every company’s needs that are in the estate. That includes variety of things I need to handle at work, so it is a challenge to put into words. On a busy day, it is a real hassle at work. That suits me well since I like having challenges at work.
Not only is the job itself pleasant, but I also have super nice co-workers that make my workdays so much funnier. I can take shifts when I have free time from school, but I am not obligated to do a certain number of hours per week. In the summer, I covered up for my co-worker when they had their summer holiday, so I did not have to worry about getting a different summer job.
I feel like in the field of business the social skills are very important so practising them at work now when studying feels right to me. When the time comes, I will be ready to tackle new challenges but for the moment I’m good.
