Being part of Finnish-based event team in Yläkaupungin Yö Ry by Anna Zhuravleva
By the time I have started my practical training in Yläkaupungin Yö I have already had an experience of working in the Finnish-based association. Nevertheless, it has opened for me a lot of new horizons and abilities. My internship in this association have also shown me that there is always room for improvements and helped me identify my points of strength and points of weakness.
Yläkaupungin Yö is an association responsible for the annual spring cultural festival which is dedicated to culture, leisure, cuisine and art in various forms. Moreover, this association organizes small cultural events throughout the year in the downtown of Jyväskylä.
As a trainee, I was a part of the event working group which consisted of the regular employees of the association and also other trainees like me. Our job was to create the sequence of cultural events for the autumn, organize them and do all the activities associated. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 not all of our hard work has been implemented, but we have still learned a lot and had high spirits.
My responsibilities included having regular meetings with the event team, help planning and scheduling the events, helping with marketing activities, communication with potential customers and participants of the events. I was also doing the English part of the website and social media advertising.
In overall, this internship was a useful experience, I have learned more about working using the Finnish language, I have also learned a lot about event’s organization process and marketing of it, moreover, I got a chance to enhance my skills of social interaction and creativity.
