Rewarding experience at L&T
As a student, there’s no denying the importance of practical training in enhancing your professional skills and gaining hands-on experience in your field of study. Practical training can be a transformative experience, allowing you to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios and preparing you for a successful career. In this blog post, we’ll explore the positive and neutral aspects of my practical training experiences.
I did my practical training in Lassila&Tikanoja Ympäristöpalvelut Oy as a Service Advisor here in Jyväskylä, Finland. Our training started with a 5-week training due to having to learn multiple different softwares and endless laws and rules about recycling industry. After the training we were set to start as service advisor and it was exciting at first, in the job you saw that no client was similar and every day was different what I loved. The 4-5 months I was there were nice and I am happy to go back to work there for the next summer.
Firstly, practical training provided me with the opportunity to work in a professional environment, under the guidance of experienced mentors. This allowed me to observe the day-to-day operations of recycling industry from the office point-of-view and gain valuable insights into the inner workings of my chosen profession as a Service Advisor in L&T Ympäristöpalvelut Oy. For me, practical training was a way to network with industry professionals, and gain access to future job as well since I am going back to work at the same place for the next summer as well.
Secondly, practical training was an excellent way for me to develop my communication and interpersonal skills since I had to work with a lot of different people in the office and with the customers. Working in a team environment, I learned how to effectively communicate with colleague, also manage my time and resources efficiently. These skills are invaluable in any career and I am glad that I got to see how sharp you have to be in everyday work.
Thirdly, practical training at L&T was a way to gain exposure to different areas of the recycling industry. I had the opportunity to see how different pieces work in a variety of departments, and gained an understanding of the different roles and responsibilities within the company. This helped me to make informed decisions about my future career path, and it provided a solid foundation for my professional development.
Finally, practical training was a way for me to apply theoretical knowledge to practical situations. This helped me to bridge the gap between academia and the professional world, and provided a more holistic understanding of the working life. Furthermore, I felt like I was able to make valuable contributions to the company during my practical training, by providing new insights and fresh perspectives.
Overall, practical training experience was extremely beneficial for me. It provided an opportunity for me to gain hands-on experience, develop crucial skills, and make valuable connections in the recycling industry. It also looks good in a CV to have worked for such a big company at a demanding job. While practical training was very challenging at times, it was ultimately a rewarding experience that I feel like set me on the path to a successful and fulfilling career.
